A free health screening exercise launched by Stephen Jalulah, Member of Parliament for Pru West, has gotten off to a roaring start with over 1,000 residents receiving medical checks and treatment at the kickoff event in Dama Nkwanta on May 20, 2024.

The launch saw a massive turnout of excited constituents, dignitaries and healthcare professionals. Hon. Jalulah was joined by government officials like Dr. Benjamin Aggrey (District Director of Health), David Manu, and respected regional chiefs in officially commencing the program.

Representatives from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) were also in attendance, including Regional Director George Oppong Danquah, Senior M&E officer Kwaku Asare, and District Manager for Pru Ahmed Tamimu among others. The NHIA is partnering with Mr. Jalulah to renew and register 4,000 beneficiaries free of charge during the exercise.

The screening program helped to provide free medical checks, NHIA registration, HIV/Hepatitis B testing, hypertension screening, malaria treatment, dental care, eye testing and more as it tours communities in the district over the coming days and weeks.

“I am overjoyed at the incredible turnout we’ve had so far,” said Hon. Jalulah. “This exercise will ensure residents have access to vital health services and shows our commitment to improving healthcare for all in Pru West.”

The launch followed a health workers awards ceremony recognizing local medical professionals and the commissioning of a new maternity ward in Dama Nkwanta by the MP.
