The Head of the Web Applications Unit under the ICT Directorate of the Bolgatanga Technical University, Albert Naa, has urged prospective tertiary students with an interest in computer science, computer engineering, IT, and all technology-related courses to make the technical university their institution of choice.
Mr. Naa said this when he spoke to Mark Smith on the Day Break Upper East Show recently.
Mr. Naa, who doubles as the Founder and CEO of Norgence, said, “The staff know their stuff. There are so many programs you can do at the university, and you have people who are ready to talk to you.”
He explained that the institution goes beyond a theoretical approach to help students build practical programs and applications that have real-life impact, disclosing that some in-house software and applications that help the school manage its affairs were developed by staff and students.
“The experience there is more than enough for you as a student,” he said.
Mr. Naa dispelled comments or ideas that proper education in technology cannot be had in northern Ghana.
“It is an old notion that you can only go south to get a good education. You try us too, and you would realize that you would get a better education for very little cost.”
