The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Kassena-Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region, Joseph Adongo, did not hold back when describing the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate, Simon Akibange Aworigo, as a stranger in the political landscape.
In the MCE’s view, Mr. Aworigo is only recognized by his party delegates, therefore he does not pose any threat to the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate, Alhaji Otito Abdallah Achuliwor.
“The NDC PC is only known to the party delegates and the constituency. If not after their primaries, I would not have found out that there was someone like that. I never knew him. So, of course, he is never a threat to us going into this election,” Adongo remarked.
Speaking on A1 Radio, he elaborated that prior to the NDC’s parliamentary primaries, he had never heard of Aworigo, questioning his influence and visibility within the constituency.
Mr. Adongo accentuated the contrast between Aworigo and the NPP’s candidate, Alhaji Otito Abdallah Achuliwor, whom he described as a true constituency man.
“Alhaji Otito is well-known and deeply rooted in our community. He has a strong connection with the people, and that makes him a formidable candidate,” Mr. Adongo asserted.
Encouraging party supporters to work diligently, the MCE expressed confidence in Alhaji Otito’s victory in the upcoming elections.
“We must work hard to achieve the resounding victory we anticipate on December 7th. Our candidate, Alhaji Otito, has the backing of the people, and together, we will secure a win,” he urged.
