The Upper East Deputy Regional Communications Officer for the NDC, Benjamin Atuasi, has praised former President and Flagbearer of the NDC, John Mahama, for his unwavering commitment to accountability and transparency.

Mr. Atuasi explained that the former president demonstrating this by opening himself up to the media to be quizzed about the direction in which he wants to take the country if given the nod at the December 7 polls.

According to the Deputy Upper East Regional Communication Officer,  Mr. Mahama’s media encounter also underscores his ability to reach a broad spectrum of the population, beyond party loyalists.

“The program highlighted Mahama’s vision and allowed him to present himself to a rigorous examination by the media, who should act as watchdogs rather than gagged dogs of the government, as seen in the current administration,” Atuasi stated.

Speaking during an interview on A1 Radio, Atuasi lauded Mr. Mahama’s integrity, which he said has remained consistent from his tenure as vice president to his presidency and now in opposition.

He emphasized that the initiative provided a platform for Mr. Mahama to be scrutinized by the media, reinforcing the importance of a free and independent press in a democratic society.

Mr. Atuasi also pointed out the program’s effectiveness in engaging neutral and nonpartisan audiences through media outreach.

“This was also an opportunity to attract the neutrals and nonpartisan public through the media,” he added.

Reflecting on Mahama’s performance during the program, Mr. Atuasi remarked, “It was exciting listening to the former president speak with such composure, oratorical dexterity, and great knowledge of our nation, even after being out of government for almost eight years.”

He therefore said the “Mahama Conversations with the Media” program not only showcased Mahama’s leadership qualities but also reaffirmed his vision for the country’s future.

The program, held on Sunday in Accra, was one of the Flagbearer’s conversations with the media to demonstrate his ongoing commitment to transparency and accountability.
