The Upper East Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association has set August 30, 2024, for the 2023 Regional GJA Awards.
The awards are supposed to recognize hardworking and deserving journalists in the Upper East Region and encourage them to do more. This is according to the Regional Chairman of GJA, William Nlanjerbor Jalulah.
The awards will be hinged on the theme “75 years of GJA: The contribution of the media in shaping Ghana’s democracy through peaceful and fair elections.”
Journalists are expected to file their stories under any of the following categories: agriculture, child protection, human rights, sanitation, environment, health, gender, disability, mining, climate change, sports, education, most promising journalist of the year, governance and accountability, and the journalist of the year category.
Founder and President of the Millar Open University, Professor David Millar; Executive Director of the Widows and Orphans Movement, Fati Abigail Abdulai; and Lecturer at the Bolgatanga Technical University, Samuel Akapule, sit on the committee to oversee the awarding of journalists.
The committee is chaired by Professor Millar.
