Jonathan Abdallah Salifu, the Upper East Regional Communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has condemned the recent burning of a vehicle belonging to the NPP in Binduri.

Mr. Abdallah Salifu also vehemently denied the NDC’s involvement in what he described as an unfortunate incident. He spoke on A1 Radio.

He refuted the claim reportedly made by the Member of Parliament for Binduri, suggesting NDC’s potential involvement in the attack. “The National Democratic Congress, either at the regional level or the constituency level, has no hand in whatever happened in Binduri,” he stated.

He urged the MP to provide any relevant information to the police for investigation, stressing that if any perpetrators were affiliated with the NDC, the party would cooperate fully in bringing them to justice. Mr. Salifu asserted that the NDC does not endorse or tolerate such actions. “Currently, the police are investigating the matter. I think if the deputy local government minister and MP for Binduri has more information as to the people who burned the pickup, he should better provide it. And if they are NDC people, they should let us know. We will gladly give them out because our party doesn’t condone those things. We don’t restrict people in whichever way they want to campaign, but of course, our party has rules and regulations,” he stated.

Regarding the MP’s remarks, Mr. Salifu cautioned against what he described as “reckless, unguided, and childish comments,” warning that the NDC would not tolerate such accusations.

He called for a decorous campaign atmosphere as the election season intensifies, especially in the eastern part of the region. “We are getting to the peak of the campaign, and we all know the situation in the eastern block of our region. As much as everybody understands what is happening in the eastern block, it is equally important we go ahead and carry out our campaign in a more decorous manner,” Mr. Salifu said.
