Former Bawku West District Chief Executive (DCE) Tahiru Issahaku Ahmed has addressed criticisms suggesting that he does not support Dr. John Kingsley Krugu, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary candidate for the Zebila Constituency.
Speaking on A1 Radio, Mr. Ahmed said his removal from office as DCE does not affect his loyalty to the NPP. He emphasized his commitment to ensuring that Dr. Krugu wins the seat and secures significant votes for the party in the upcoming elections.
He stated, “What benefit would I gain if Dr. John Kingsley Krugu doesn’t win? I am NPP and will do everything within my power to help him win the seat and increase the party’s presidential votes. Of course, I was removed from duty as a DCE, but I remain a member of the NPP. All the claims about my lack of support are false. Dr. Krugu and I are in contact, and I am part of his campaign team, doing everything possible to secure the Zebila seat for the NPP.”
His comments come amid rumors that his dismissal as DCE has created a rift within the party, affecting his support for Dr. Krugu.
Regarding the NPP’s chances of winning the parliamentary seat in the area, the former DCE indicated that with collaborative efforts, the party has a good chance. He added that the party needs to unite and work together to achieve victory.
