Upper East Regional Youth Organizer Salahu-Deen Musah has expressed disappointment over recent comments made by Mahama Ayariga, Member of Parliament for Bawku Central.
In his remarks, Mr. Ayariga urged voters in the Bolgatanga East Constituency to be vigilant against the alleged use of stolen funds by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate for campaigning.
Addressing a crowd during a National Democratic Congress (NDC) campaign tour, Ayariga claimed that the NPP Parliamentary Candidate was using stolen funds to influence voters, suggesting that the electorate should not be swayed by such actions.
In response, Mr. Musah stated, “It is now evident that Dr. Dominic Akuritingayine has lost ground in the constituency and is seeking support from other individuals. However, I assure the entire NDC in the Upper East Region that Dr. Ayine’s defeat is inevitable, and nothing can stop it.”
Mr. Musah further criticized Ayariga, calling him a “failure as an MP to the people of Bawku.” He asserted that Hon. Mathew Silas Amoah’s achievements in recent years far surpassed Ayariga’s contributions throughout his political career. Mr. Musah emphasized that Ayariga could not point to a single person in Bawku who had been positively impacted by his efforts, despite holding several positions in the NDC administration.
“I would advise Ayine not to rely on failures like Mahama Ayariga to speak for him, as they only highlight why Mathew is the right person to lead the people of Bolgatanga East Constituency,” Mr. Musah said.
He praised Mathew Silas Amoah as a successful businessman who owns a company and has initiated several projects across the country. In contrast, Musah highlighted Ayariga’s failed attempt at a car business, which ended in court due to fraudulent activities with Martin Amidu. “This shows that business is an art, and Ayariga’s failure does not mean everyone will fail,” Mr. Musah added.
Mr. Musah called for a smear-free campaign and urged politicians to avoid spreading propaganda. He emphasized the importance of viewing politics as a tool to uplift communities and improve their conditions. “This has been the driving force behind Hon. Mathew Silas Amoah’s decision to contest the Bolgatanga East seat—to support his people. It is no wonder he uses his resources to address the developmental needs of his community,” Mr. Musah noted.
He encouraged the people of Bolgatanga East Constituency to remain loyal to Mathew Silas Amoah and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, asserting that their future is secure with these leaders.
