Former President John Dramani Mahama has called on the people of the Bolgatanga Central Constituency to vote against Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming December elections.

Addressing a final rally as part of his four-day tour in the region, former President Mahama emphasized the need for accountability, stating that the current NPP government must be held responsible for its actions. The NDC flagbearer argued that voting out the NPP would ensure they do not escape accountability for their promises and actions.

“Over the last eight years, a lot of corruption has occurred. Over these years, stealing and misappropriation have been rampant. Now this government wants to bring their Vice President in as President to cover up for them, so they will not be investigated. Bawumia can never investigate the Akufo-Addo government; he cannot investigate a government he was part of. They are desperate to have him in power so they can escape accountability,” he said.

Mr. Mahama highlighted the NPP’s unfulfilled promises and alleged mismanagement, urging the constituents to demand better governance. His call to action was met with enthusiasm from the crowd, who chanted and cheered in support.

The former President also praised Isaac Adongo, the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, for his continued efforts in holding the NPP government accountable, especially in the areas of finance and the economy. He urged constituents to ensure Adongo returns to Parliament.
