The Assemblies of God Ghana has outlined a bold vision for its future during the 31st Biennial General Council Meeting, held at the C.K. Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences in Navrongo, Upper East Region.

The meeting focused on rebuilding and restoring the church’s image and advancing its mission through significant capacity building and infrastructural development across the country.

Central to this agenda is the elimination of churches operating under trees or in deplorable conditions, emphasizing the church’s commitment to improving worship environments for its congregations.

Speaking at the event, the General Superintendent, Rev. Stephen Y. Wengam, unveiled the church’s comprehensive Transformation Agenda, encapsulated in six strategic pillars known as the “Six Rs”: Reach, Restore, Rebuild, Reposition, Rebrand, and Reform.

Rev. Wengam elaborated on the first R, “Reach,” which focuses on expanding the church’s presence across Ghana.

“We want, as a church, to reach every community in Ghana with the word of God, planting churches in every community and engaging all stakeholders,” he stated, highlighting the church’s commitment to outreach and inclusivity.

The second R, “Restore,” aims to reignite the spirit of revival reminiscent of the early and end-time church. This revival is seen as crucial to energizing the church’s mission and spiritual life.

“Rebuild,” the third R, targets capacity building for pastors and significant investment in infrastructure. A centerpiece of this effort is the planned construction of a state-of-the-art International Convention Center to commemorate the church’s centenary in seven years. This facility, set to accommodate 6,000 people, will serve both the church’s needs and broader community events.

“We have acquired the land, and construction will commence as soon as practicable,” Rev. Wengam announced.

The fourth R, “Reposition,” focuses on raising awareness about the church’s global influence. With over 85 million members worldwide and 20 million in Africa, the Assemblies of God seeks to assert its significance and contributions more prominently.

“Rebrand,” the fifth R, is aimed at enhancing the church’s image, making it more relevant, attractive, and poised for growth.

Finally, “Reform” involves comprehensive administrative changes designed to streamline the church’s operations, bolster its effectiveness in missions, and ensure financial independence.

Rev. Wengam concluded, “Our agenda is about repositioning our church to become more influential, impactful, prominent, and resourceful.”

“The ambitious Transformation Agenda is set to propel the Assemblies of God Ghana into a new era of growth and influence, both within Ghana and on the global stage.”
