Dr. Dominic Ayine, the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East, has expressed strong conviction regarding the return of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to power.
In a recent interview with A1 Radio, Dr. Ayine stated that his extensive experience in politics has enabled him to accurately gauge public sentiment.
He noted that across the country, including in the capital city of Accra, there is a palpable sense of dissatisfaction among citizens, including supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
These supporters have reportedly expressed their frustrations, indicating that they will hold the NDC responsible if it fails to meet their expectations. “I have been in politics long enough to know when people are yearning for change. Throughout the country, even in Accra, you’ll meet NPP supporters who say, ‘If you let us down, we won’t forgive you.’ NPP people say that to us all the time.”
Dr. Ayine claimed that some NPP Members of Parliament have warned the NDC that their failure to effectively manage electoral processes and ensure a fair outcome could lead to severe repercussions.
According to Dr. Ayine, this underscores the high stakes involved and reflects the intense political atmosphere leading up to the next elections.
In addition to political strategy, Dr. Ayine discussed the NDC’s commitment to judicial and legal reforms as part of their manifesto. He highlighted the importance of these reforms in improving the country’s legal framework and ensuring justice.
He pointed out that every district assembly in Ghana should have a resident lawyer tasked with reviewing contracts, drafting legal correspondence, and providing essential legal support to local governments, which is currently lacking.
He added, “The country needs lawyers. That is the most important thing.”
