Andrew Atariwini, the Deputy Upper East Regional Director of Communication for the NPP, has said the NPP’s manifesto and recent media engagement have stood out due to the clarity of the message and the character of their flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
“I think that the NPP’s manifesto and our press encounter with the flagbearer stood out not just because his government is in power, but because of the message and the character of Dr. Bawumia, and how he carried himself even in response to the issues,” he said.
Reflecting on the past few weeks, Mr. Atariwini described them as particularly exciting, attributing this enthusiasm to the dynamic nature of political strategy. “That’s politics for you. It’s a game of strategy,” he noted, highlighting how the evolving political landscape has influenced his perspective on the party’s recent activities and achievements.
He noted that while some questions, particularly regarding the Upper East Region’s multipurpose dam, remained partially answered, the manifesto effectively covered various sectors and presented a forward-looking vision. “I know some questions, especially about the multipurpose dam in the Upper East Region, were not answered to everyone’s satisfaction, but the Vice President was able to articulate his vision clearly in the manifesto,” he said in an interview on A1 Radio.
The theme of the manifesto, ‘Selfless Leadership, Bold Solutions for Jobs and Business,’ reflects a focus on leadership qualities and economic strategies, with a strong emphasis on supporting the private sector.
“The theme is ‘SELFLESS LEADERSHIP, BOLD SOLUTIONS FOR JOBS AND BUSINESS,’ and it highlights the kind of person our flagbearer is, giving a clear idea of our focus,” he stated.
Mr. Atariwini highlighted the NPP’s commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment and criticized the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s ‘24-hour economy’ as unrealistic. “The 24-hour economy is a mirage. Don’t even go there,” he said.
He further criticized the NDC for not releasing their manifesto sooner, suggesting that an earlier rollout could have led to deeper public engagement with their policies. “If they had launched their manifesto even six months ago, by now their policies would have been deeply embedded in the public consciousness.”
He urged Ghanaians to consider Dr. Bawumia’s demonstrated credibility and leadership qualities, suggesting that his potential presidency would offer substantial improvements over past administrations. “Ghanaians should consider Dr. Bawumia, who has demonstrated credibility even as Vice President. When he becomes President, it will be excellent.”
