Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been named captain of the Ghana squad for the upcoming 2025 AFCON qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
The 30-year-old has been in exceptional form for Arsenal, recently scoring against Aston Villa, and his consistency makes him a crucial player for Ghana in their AFCON qualifying campaign.
With 49 caps and 13 goals for Ghana since 2015, Partey’s experience and leadership will be vital.
Notably, captain Andre Ayew has been omitted from the squad, sparking debate among fans and journalists.
Meanwhile, Majeed Ashimeru returns from injury, and Inaki Williams joins the squad.
However, injuries have ruled out Ernest Nuamah and Forson Amankwah.
Ghana begins their AFCON qualifying journey against Angola on September 5, followed by a match against Niger in Morocco.
