The Upper East Regional Journalist of the Year, Anthony Apubeo Adongo, is urging journalists in the region to collaborate to create a greater impact.

Speaking to A1 Radio’s Mark Smith on the *Day Break Upper East* Show today, September 9, 2024, Mr. Adongo explained that there is more to gain from collaborating, especially for young media practitioners.

“People tend to see each other as competitors. Once you view someone as a competitor, you may hesitate to seek or offer support. When someone approaches you for help, you might not fully appreciate their contributions. Even if they seek your support, you might not realize that you could learn something valuable from them,” he said.

The Journalist of the Year insisted that “when you collaborate, you are able to tell your stories better. By discussing your story with others, you receive different perspectives that help you identify various angles. This can lead to a greater impact.”

He also noted that the challenges faced by the region are beyond the capacity of any single individual to address, emphasizing the need for collaboration.

Mr. Adongo also won the Best Reporter awards in the Education and Health categories. His stories focused on the Bawku conflict and its impact, education in the area, and health concerns related to elephantiasis.
