Charger Limited, producers of Happy Man Bitters and Black Legend Blended Coffee Gin, has donated hygiene equipment to the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly. This gesture is part of the company’s commitment to supporting United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6), which focuses on clean water and sanitation for all.
The items include 27 rakes, 5 wheelbarrows, 10 shovels, 10 spades, 70 standing brooms, 30 hand gloves, 30 slashing hooks, 2 Izar, 10 liquid soaps, 30 raincoats, and 2 powdered soaps, valued at GHS 13,905.00.
Speaking during the donation ceremony, Edward Anafo Abambila, Upper East Regional representative of Charger Limited, expressed the company’s dedication to contributing to the health and well-being of the community.
“We are here not just as a business, but as partners in community development, ready to contribute to a cause that impacts us all—sanitation and hygiene,” he stated.
Charger Limited emphasized the critical importance of sanitation, highlighting that proper hygiene is essential for public health and the overall development of the community.
“Today, we are donating these items to help bolster the Assembly’s efforts in promoting hygiene and sanitation in Bolgatanga. This gesture reflects our belief that businesses must play a role not only in economic growth but also in social and environmental development. Cleanliness is the foundation of health, and by improving sanitation, we are not just investing in public health—we are investing in the future,” Mr. Anafo added.
Mr. Anafo, speaking on behalf of the Chief Executive of Charger Limited, Dr. Emmanuel Bortey Borketey, noted that poor sanitation negatively impacts education, productivity, and health, urging the community to take responsibility for maintaining cleanliness.
“We urge everyone to take responsibility for maintaining cleanliness, both in public spaces and in personal habits. Charger Limited believes that collective action is key to achieving our shared goals, and we are confident that with the continued support of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, this initiative will bring lasting benefits to the people of this community.”
Receiving the equipment on behalf of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, Municipal Coordinating Director Chimsi Musah expressed gratitude to Charger Limited for the generous donation. He emphasized that the support would significantly improve sanitation conditions in the municipality.
“What Charger Limited has done this morning shows that the business community, companies, and individuals are aligned with government programs and policies and want to support us in delivering services to the good people of Bolgatanga. May the Good Lord continue to bless you and give you the strength so that others will emulate what you have done,” Mr. Chimsi said.
He mentioned that the donation was timely, as “the Assembly is currently struggling with evacuating both solid and liquid waste.” While pledging to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive and support the Assembly, Mr. Chimsi assured Charger Limited that the items would be put to good use to improve the municipality’s sanitation situation. He also commended Evans Bornaa, the Bolgatanga Municipal Environmental Health Officer, for his excellent relations with the company, which led to the donation.
