Dr. Nadia Adongo Fynn, Deputy Director for Diaspora Affairs at the Presidency, has highlighted positive developments in the Bolgatanga East constituency and called on voters to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidates in the upcoming elections.
Speaking in a recent interview on A1 Radio, Dr. Fynn emphasized the transformative impact of government initiatives, particularly in education. She pointed to the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, which has significantly improved access to education for children across the district.
“I feel every child that has been given the opportunity to go to school because of Free SHS, it is a message that we share,” she said.
Dr. Fynn noted that elderly residents in the area have expressed their appreciation for the government’s efforts, recognizing the increased opportunities for children.
She also commended Matthew Silas Amoah, the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Bolgatanga East, for his personal contributions to the community. His efforts include drilling boreholes and investing in local projects aimed at improving infrastructure and livelihoods.
“He came and saw what was going on in the community and saw how he could support in his own way. And he has been able to do that, and the constituents have seen it,” Dr. Fynn remarked.
Dr. Fynn highlighted Mr. Amoah’s commitment to empowering women through skill development programs, including basket weaving, smock weaving, hairdressing, and support for traders.
“Matthew Silas has helped young women in basket weaving, smock weaving, hairdressing, and traders that he has invested in on his own personal initiative,” she added.
Despite not yet holding an official position as a Member of Parliament, Dr. Fynn praised Mr. Amoah for actively improving the lives of Bolga East residents. She urged voters to elect him to Parliament, giving him the platform to further contribute to the region’s development.
“My message to the people of the Upper East Region is to give an opportunity for our NPP Parliamentary Candidate to bring improvement to their lives and communities,” she said.
Dr. Fynn also called for support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP Presidential Candidate, emphasizing his deep connection to the Upper East Region. She highlighted his familiarity with the local language and culture as a key strength in his leadership.
“People of the Upper East, this time around, give our dear candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, a chance to help us. This is a brother who, when he came to the Upper East Region, spoke our language. He’s a family member, so we just have to give him the chance to bring development home,” she said.
Dr. Fynn acknowledged Dr. Bawumia’s contributions to local communities and expressed confidence in his ability to drive further development.
“He hasn’t been there yet as the President, but we’ve seen the good work that he’s been doing and pushing for our communities,” she noted.
She called for a shift in political loyalty, urging voters to consider the tangible benefits that NPP leadership, including Mr. Amoah and Dr. Bawumia, can bring. She argued that the region’s long-standing support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has yet to yield significant results, making it time for a change that prioritizes progress and development.
“I’m pleading with the people of the Upper East that this time around, we’ve been overly loyal to the NDC, but there’s nothing to show for it. Let’s give Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia the chance to bring us the transformational development we need,” Dr. Fynn concluded.
