The Deputy Director of the Diaspora Affairs Office, Dr. Nadia Adongo Fynn, has criticized Bolgatanga East MP, Dr. Dominic Ayine, over his claims of facilitating electricity connections in her community.
Dr. Fynn described the MP’s statement as “below the belt” and urged him to focus on his developmental track record after 12 years in office.
Speaking on A1 Radio, Dr. Fynn clarified the circumstances surrounding the electricity supply to her family home.
“The electricity connection to my house did not come directly from him. In 2016, after my father’s passing, my siblings reached out to Professor Thomas Akabzaa, then Chief Director at the Ministry of Energy, for assistance. It was through him that we got the connection, not Dr. Ayine,” she stated.
She challenged the MP’s use of this incident as a political achievement, suggesting it underscored his detachment from the needs of his constituents.
“If he feels bringing electricity to my house is a trump card, it shows how out of touch he is. The people of Bolgatanga East expected more, but he has failed them woefully,” Dr. Fynn remarked.
Highlighting the New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s contributions to Bolgatanga East, she pointed to advancements in education, healthcare, and water projects under the party’s administration.
Dr. Fynn expressed optimism about further development if the NPP parliamentary candidate and the party emerge victorious in the upcoming elections.
Her remarks add to the ongoing political discourse in Bolgatanga East as voters assess the contributions of their leaders ahead of the 2024 general elections.
