A prominent member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region, Ing. Filson Awankua, has presented 19 LED streetlights to the party’s parliamentary candidate for Bolgatanga East, Mathew Silas Amoah.
The donation, made on Wednesday, November 27, at his family residence, aims to enhance the NPP’s campaign efforts and improve the lighting system in the constituency.
Speaking at the event, Ing. Awankua pledged his continued support for the constituency’s development.
He promised to facilitate the installation of solar-powered streetlights across major and minor streets in Bolgatanga East if Amoah secures victory in the upcoming elections.
The initiative, he noted, aligns with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s advocacy for solar energy as a cost-effective alternative to hydro and thermal power.
Awankua encouraged Amoah to intensify grassroots engagement by reaching out to all electoral areas, polling stations, and households. He expressed confidence in the NPP’s record and the support of groups like RRU and FOB’08, forecasting a decisive victory for both Amoah and Dr. Bawumia in the 2024 elections.
Ing. Awankua also criticized the performance of the incumbent NDC MP, Dr. Dominic Ayine, accusing him of neglecting the constituency’s development.
In response, Mathew Silas Amoah expressed gratitude for the support from his elder brother and other party stakeholders.
He allocated seven streetlights to Zuarungu East to improve security in the area. Amoah appealed to voters to back the NPP’s “No. 1” position on the ballot for both parliamentary and presidential candidates, reiterating his commitment to driving development and tirelessly working for the constituency’s progress if elected.
