Nabdam for Christ, an association of various Christian denominations in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region, celebrated its 3rd anniversary with prayers and a peace walk. The event aimed to foster peace, unity, and development among residents, transcending political divisions.
The celebration brought together members from diverse denominations, highlighting the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence. Leaders of the association encouraged residents to set aside political differences and work collaboratively toward the development of the Nabdam District.
According to Pastor James Nongyen Yamdoug, Lead Servant of Nabdam for Christ, “We observed that politics over the years in Nabdam seems to be dividing us sharply instead of bringing our varied, beautiful ideas together to develop Nabdam. We believe that politics is a call of God to serve humanity in our various capacities, not to fight and hate one another.”
Pastor Yamdoug emphasized the association’s mission to cultivate a culture of peace, tolerance, and understanding among residents, irrespective of their political affiliations. “We want to encourage our people to present their ideas, persuade, analyze, and choose the best from the rest,” he added.
The 3rd anniversary of Nabdam for Christ serves as a powerful reminder of the role unity and peaceful coexistence play in driving development and progress in the district. As the nation prepares for the upcoming elections, the association’s message of peace and unity resonates more than ever.
During the event, Pastor Yamdoug also called on both factions in Bawku to allow peace to prevail in the area.
The celebration featured a peace walk through the streets of the district, including the Pelungu market, organized by the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC). Participants carried placards with messages promoting peace.
Both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate, Charles Taleog Ndanbon, and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) incumbent MP, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane, pledged to promote peace before, during, and after the December 7th elections.
Chief of the Pelungu Traditional Area, Naab Serig Sore Sobil IV, reiterated the importance of peace and development in the district. He urged all stakeholders in the upcoming general election to conduct themselves in ways that foster togetherness and unity.
