Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) has recorded a significant 20% increase in student enrollment for the 2024/2025 academic year, with 1,778 students gaining admission out of 1,928 applicants. This marks a notable rise from the previous year’s figure of 1,486, demonstrating the university’s growing appeal and commitment to technical and vocational education.
Speaking at the university’s 23rd Matriculation Ceremony, Vice Chancellor, Professor Samuel Erasmus Alnaa disclosed that 1,500 of the admitted students had already reported to campus. He welcomed the fresh students, encouraging them to embrace academic excellence, discipline, and personal development.
“This is a place where dreams are nurtured, talents are honed, and futures are built upon solid academic and disciplinary values. Your success at BTU will depend on your commitment, discipline, and, most importantly, your determination,” he stated.
He entreated them to shun all forms of examination malpractices so that their efforts at pursuing a dream career would not be in vain. The Vice-Chancellor also mentioned BTU’s upcoming Silver Jubilee celebrations, which will feature a series of events starting on March 12, 2025. He urged students to participate actively in academic and extracurricular activities, take advantage of available resources, and uphold integrity in their studies.

Additionally, Professor Alnaa encouraged trainees of the Ghana Jobs & Skills Apprenticeship Project to leverage the institution’s opportunities for skill and entrepreneurial development.
He concluded by advising students to remain focused, avoid negative influences, and make the most of their educational journey at BTU.
“As students of this University, I will also implore you to choose your new friends wisely. Shun all forms of drug abuse in order to stay mentally and emotionally stable at all times”
“I want to use this opportunity to salute and congratulate your parents, guardians, and sponsors who have made it possible for you to pursue your dream career at this university. I wish to beseech every one of you that is matriculating today to ensure that the financial investment of your parents, guardians, and sponsors in your education is properly utilized and make sure you give them a good return on their investments,” he stated.
The university, he assured, is dedicated to providing the necessary support to help them succeed.
