The Progressive People’s Party in the Bolgatanga Central constituency of the upper east region has settled on Sampson Akolgo, a young professional teacher to contest for the parliamentary seat in the up-coming elections.
At a press briefing held in Bolgatanga to outdoor him, Mr. Akolgo pledged to set up an education fund to support brilliant but needy students in the constituency with 50% of his monthly salary being one of the sources of funds to the pool.
He noted that agriculture plays a key role in efforts at reducing poverty in the region hence the need to engage the unemployed youth in a year-long farming and asserted that both the NDC and NPP have not done creditably to deserve another mandate to rule the country.
“The nation is divided, poverty in different forms still persist, preventable diseases like malaria, cholera and meningitis are still with us, unemployment, high taxes, “dumsor” are still terrorizing us,” he said.
Mr. Akolgo is hopeful of wining the parliamentary seat for the party adding that the PPP government when given the mandate will ensure that MMDCE’s are elected into office.
Upper East Regional Organizer of the party, Rapheal Kpinn said a vote for the NDC and any other party on December 7 would be a wasted vote hence the need to vote for the Progressive People’s Party for jobs and better lives.
