The National Vetting Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has announced the schedule for the vetting of aspirants seeking to become Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Upper East Region.
According to a statement issued by the NDC Regional Secretariat on March 17, 2025, the vetting process will involve three shortlisted aspirants per municipality or district, with the first round set to take place on March 19, 2025. The schedule for the remaining areas will be communicated later. The announcement, signed by Regional Secretary Mr. Akamugri Donatus Atanga, urged all aspirants to take note of the stated requirements and adequately prepare for the process.
The list of aspirants covers 15 municipal and district assemblies across the region. In Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, the shortlisted candidates are Roland Atanga Ayoo, Ayamga Aka-Eeri Martin, and Donatus Nyaaba Anama. Similarly, in Bolga East District Assembly, the aspirants are Jacob Abugri Aka-Eri, Madam Adombiri-Naba Matilda, and Ayelatoe Azure Isaac.
The Builsa South District Assembly has three contenders: Anne Mush, Richard Kazia, and John Asuaga. Meanwhile, in Builsa North District Assembly, the competition is among Agaab Robert, Seth Aduedem Alafa, and Akogti Solomon Ansoabayie.
For Kasena Nankana Municipal Assembly, the aspirants are Cephas Akaworiwor Adda, Madam Faustina Akeyom Abulu, and George Taboo. In Kasena Nankana District Assembly, the names on the list are Dickson Adiale Ayagitam, Stephen Aeke Akurigo, and Kennedy Atuley Atinga.
In Bawku Municipal Assembly, the three shortlisted aspirants are Azunaba Isaac, Mumuni Fuseini, and Solomon Amaliba Ayaan. The Bawku West District Assembly will see Dr. Atiah Kudugu, James Ayamwego, and Anawai Clement Ayaaba contesting for the top position.
At Binduri District Assembly, the selection is among Ariku Martin Akudugu, Atilata Ndego Salifu, and Mahamudu Imoro. Similarly, in Pusiga District Assembly, the hopefuls are Aguri Haruna Abdul Rahim, Osman Anka Yakubu, and Bashiru Issah Kazussah.
For the Garu District Assembly the aspirants Thomas Laari Martey, James Akasire, and Abaare Abugba John, while in Tempane District Assembly, the contest is between Mbilla Joseph Ayaaba, Komone George Abdulai, and Moose Alamusah Ndebilla.
For Bongo District Assembly, the candidates are Akaseke Joseph Abaa, Clement Akasoba Anabire, and Edmund Adaboro Apika. At Nabdam District Assembly, four aspirants—James Tenga Naismith Yidaan, Francis Tobig Yenwoma, Maxwell Sallong, and Tohughtor Douglas—will be vetted.
Lastly, in Talensi District Assembly, the vetting committee will assess George Adongo Ayamboya, John Millim Naabwomya, and David Nansong Volmeng.
The vetting process aims to assess candidates’ competence, leadership abilities, and understanding of governance structures to ensure the most qualified individuals are selected for these key local government positions. The NDC Regional Secretariat congratulated all aspirants and wished them the best in the upcoming vetting process. The committee emphasized that the selection of MMDCEs is a crucial step in ensuring effective local governance and development.
