The International Women’s Hope Center (IWHC) has donated sanitary pads to students of Tongo Girls Model Junior High School in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region. The initiative, aimed at promoting menstrual hygiene and supporting young girls, seeks to ensure that no student misses school due to a lack of menstrual products.

Beyond the donation, IWHC engaged the students in an interactive session on Choices, Growth, Attitude, and Commitment, encouraging them to embrace menstrual health with confidence. The event featured a drama and a traditional dance performance by the students, highlighting the importance of menstrual hygiene.

The Headmistress of the school expressed her gratitude for the donation and appealed for frequent visits to further support the students. The IWHC team was led to the school by the Girl Child Coordinator of the Talensi District Education Service, who decried the misconceptions surrounding menstrual health conversations. She urged the students to become change-makers in their communities by spreading awareness and breaking the stigma around menstruation.

Madam Gladys Anayem, the Director of the organization, said, “We welcome every opportunity to help the girl child attain her optimum. The sanitary pads, though not enough, will help some of these girls avoid certain temptations. As an organization, we also believe in sharing information that will guide the choices, growth, attitude, and commitment of girls toward achieving their dreams. We don’t just give gifts — we also coach young adults and teenagers.”

This initiative aligns with IWHC’s broader mission to empower young girls and women with knowledge and resources that enhance their well-being and self-sufficiency.
