The Member of Parliament for Talensi Constituency, Daniel Dung Mahama, has visited victims of a devastating rainstorm that hit the Tolla and Digaare communities on April 24, 2025. The storm ripped off the roofs of seven houses and two school buildings, rendering several families homeless.

Mr. Mahama, accompanied by the District Chief Executive for Talensi, John Millim Nabwomya, undertook the assessment tour on Sunday, April 27, 2025. The visit aimed to commiserate with the affected families, evaluate the extent of the damage, and identify avenues for lobbying the government and other relevant institutions for support.

In the Digaare community, the MP commended the chief of Digaare, Alhaji Naab Ibrahim Boarebon for swiftly using personal resources to re-roof the Digaare Primary School to ensure that academic activities could go on when schools reopen.

“I’m here not just to sympathize with the victims, but to take this up with NADMO and other relevant institutions so that we can get timely relief and support to those affected. I commend the chief for showing such leadership in restoring the school roof,” Mr. Mahama stated during the visit.

The District Chief Executive, Mr. Nabwomya, pledged to liaise with the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to determine the availability of relief items for the victims. He assured the community that the district assembly was committed to providing support where possible.

The Assembly Member for the Datuko Electoral Area, Ayariga Mahamadu, expressed gratitude to the MP and DCE for their visit, adding that the rainstorm had severely disrupted the lives of residents and called for urgent assistance to restore livelihoods and shelter.
