A total of 765 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the Builsa South District of the Upper East Region have received mentorship, educational materials, and a fully funded mock examination, courtesy of their Member of Parliament, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak.
Of the candidates preparing for the June 2025 exams, 396 are girls and 369 are boys. The initiative, which has become an annual support programme since Dr. Apaak assumed office, aims to equip students both academically and psychologically ahead of their final examinations.
Speaking to the media, Dr. Apaak, who also serves as the Deputy Minister of Education, reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring quality education in the district.
He emphasized the need for continued collaboration with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to support every child’s right to education.
The District Deputy Director of Education, Mr. Akumzeyam Stephen, expressed gratitude to the MP for his consistent interventions over the years. These include the provision of furniture, organization of quizzes and extra classes, renovation of schools, and the annual distribution of mathematical sets.
District Chief Executive, Madam Musah Anne, who led the distribution of materials across all 25 public basic schools in the district, cautioned students against drug abuse—particularly the misuse of tramadol, commonly referred to as “RED.”
She emphasized that indulging in such substances could jeopardize their future.
