A total of 767 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region have expressed heartfelt appreciation to their Member of Parliament, Dr. Mark-Kurt Nawaane, for his continuous mentorship and educational support.
Comprising 432 girls and 335 boys, the candidates acknowledged that Dr. Nawaane’s intervention—particularly the motivational sessions and the provision of examination materials—came at a crucial time as they prepare to sit for the national exams in June.
One student noted, “With these materials, my parents can now focus on providing feeding support while I concentrate on passing.”
BECE candidates often have to travel from distant communities to stay near examination centers during the five-day exam period, frequently catering for their own meals. Recognizing this economic strain, Dr. Nawaane donated 770 exam packs containing essential materials to ease the burden on students and their families.
The items were presented on his behalf by the Nabdam District Chief Executive (DCE), Francis Tobig Yenwoma, who explained that the gesture aims to empower students to approach their exams with confidence and integrity. He encouraged the pupils to avoid examination malpractice, focus on their futures, and reward their teachers’ efforts with excellent results.
“This donation is not a one-time gesture,” the DCE said. “It’s a yearly commitment by Dr. Nawaane to ensure that the youth of Nabdam have a fair shot at success.”
The event also featured moral sensitization sessions, with respected community stakeholders urging students to take their studies seriously and strive to become responsible citizens.
Meanwhile, the Nabdam District Director of the Ghana Education Service, Ms. MacDarlene Wompakeah, praised the MP’s continued dedication to education in the district.
“This donation goes a long way to boost the morale of the candidates and reduce the pressure on families,” she stated.
Ms. Wompakeah, however, used the opportunity to appeal for additional support from both the MP and the DCE in addressing other pressing educational challenges in the district.
Dr. Nawaane’s annual support, which goes beyond the provision of materials, reflects his deep commitment to shaping the future of Nabdam through education—one student at a time. or social media use.
