The Father’s Day celebration is steadily gaining popularity in Ghana, recognized as a key moment to honour fatherhood and male role models. In the Upper East Region, this year’s celebration saw a meaningful collaboration between AQUABOLG Natural Mineral Water, A1 Radio, and Bolga FM, as they united to celebrate seven distinguished fathers who have contributed significantly to community development and social transformation.

Over the years, both A1 Radio and AQUABOLG Natural Mineral Water have independently honored fathers on Father’s Day, held annually on the second Sunday of June. Their visits and appreciation gestures have brought surprise and joy to many homes. This year, however, marked a unique joint initiative to amplify the impact.

As part of the 2025 Father’s Day celebration in Ghana, the team honored seven exemplary fathers from Bolgatanga and surrounding districts. These individuals have not only supported family growth initiatives but also played active roles in the progress of A1 Radio and the growing influence of AQUABOLG Natural Mineral Water.

Each father was surprised in his home with a token of appreciation, including a bottle of wine and a branded mug. The honorees were

  • Reverend Thomas Apana, Headmaster of Tongo Senior High School and member of the Evangelical Church of Ghana

  • Apostle Joseph Adongo, Great Commission Church

  • Dada JJ Panyin, respected Social Change Crusader

  • Reverend Emmanuel K. Manu, Presbyterian Church of Ghana

  • Pastor Archibold Ako-Nnubeng, Deeper Christian Life Church

  • Reverend Charles Mensah, Methodist Church and host of the Methodist Hour Programme on Bolga FM

  • Pascal Kasser Tee, development worker and advocate for family welfare

This initiative was spearheaded by Mercy Yamtot Adongo, Headmistress of Bolgatanga Experimental Primary School and host of Home Affairs on A1 Radio. She emphasized the importance of honoring men who have consistently shaped positive family values and marriage experiences through the program.

“Home Affairs has contributed immensely to the mindset transformation of many couples across the Upper East Region. For over a decade, we’ve tackled real family issues, and some of these fathers have supported the show consistently,” said Mrs. Adongo.
“This is the first collaboration between Home Affairs and AQUABOLG, and I’m excited about future projects. AQUABOLG has become more than just a trusted water brand; it stands for love, health, and family values.”

Humul-Khrusum Tahiru, Director of AQUABOLG and host of Equal Voices on A1 Radio, also spoke on the importance of celebrating people while they are alive:

“These fathers have gone beyond their personal homes to impact thousands through their wisdom, community service, and engagement with our brand. Some have directly contributed to the growing acceptance of AQUABOLG Natural Mineral Water across Bolgatanga, Talensi, Bongo, and Kassena-Nankana. This recognition is the least we can do,” she noted.
“We hope next year’s Father’s Day celebration will be even bigger.”

Dada JJ Panyin, one of the honorees and a known voice in social change campaigns, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the recognition and offered fatherhood advice:

“I’m proud and grateful. Being a father is a responsibility that requires discipline. I’ve avoided alcohol all my life, and my marriage is built on unity and forgiveness,” he said.
“Catholics believe the family is the recruiting center of the Church. Divorce is out of our equation — forgiveness is our foundation. We must raise our children to reach higher than we did.”

He called on young fathers to instill discipline and unity in their homes and never give up on their children, regardless of challenges.

The celebration reinforces the commitment of AQUABOLG Enterprise, A1 Radio, and Bolga FM to promote strong family values in Northern Ghana and recognize unsung heroes who silently shape the region’s development.

The team pledged to make the Father’s Day tradition an annual event that not only appreciates fatherhood but also strengthens social and family structures in the Upper East Region of Ghana and beyond.
