The Member of Parliament for Zebilla Constituency, Ebenezer Alumire Ndebilla, has taken a strong swipe at the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for resorting to court action over the controversial Ablekuma North parliamentary primary rerun, suggesting that the party’s move reflects fear of an impending defeat.

Speaking on Bolgatanga-based A1 Radio in the Upper East Region, the MP questioned the NPP’s confidence. “They talk of history and how they have always won the seat. So, if they truly believe they are on their way to victory, I don’t see why they should run away from the process and go to court,” he said. “Continue with the process and win it, as you believe you already have.”

Mr. Ndebilla expressed strong confidence in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) securing the seat, citing recent shifts in public sentiment in Ablekuma North and beyond.

“In the last six months, the economy has worsened under the leadership of the NPP. But under His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, we believe the people see hope. That’s why the NPP is jittery and backing out.”

He reaffirmed the NDC’s commitment to victory in Ablekuma North, highlighting ongoing support for their parliamentary candidate in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

“We are not deterred. We have started our campaign to help. We’re supporting our candidate to ensure she gets the Ablekuma North seat — and we’ll make sure it is done properly.”
