Desert Pastures International School in Bolgatanga, in the Upper East region will be renamed Four Rivers International School effective September 2025. The announcement was made by the Director of the school, Reverend Mrs. Rosemond Anaba, during the school’s silver jubilee and graduation ceremony held over the weekend at the Fountain Gate Chapel, Desert Pastures.

Addressing a gathering of dignitaries including the guest of honor, Reverend Eastwood Anaba, parents, teachers, alumni and students, Reverend Mrs. Anaba said the new name reflects a vision to nurture learners who will flow into the nations, spreading influence and excellence grounded in Christian values.

“Our school, formerly known as Desert Pastures International School, will now carry a new name come September 2025. The name will be Four Rivers International School,” she announced, receiving a round of applause from the audience.

Explaining the inspiration behind the new name, Reverend Mrs. Anaba noted it draws from the four rivers—Gihon, Pishon, Hiddekel, and Euphrates—that flowed out of the biblical Garden of Eden, symbolizing spreading, strength, swiftness, and sweetness. “This change is not about rebranding. It is about realignment… to raise learners who will not only flourish locally, but will flow into the nations,” she said.

Reflecting on the journey so far, she expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for 25 years of grace, the spiritual guidance and support of Reverend Eastwood Anaba, the founding president of Eastwood Anaba Ministries (EAM), and to all parents, staff, and the landowners the school is situated on. “Every step we have taken has been by His grace, and every child who has passed through our doors is a testimony of His faithfulness,” she said.

Reverend Mrs. Anaba outlined plans for the next chapter of the school, including the introduction of the Oxford International Curriculum at the preschool level from September 2025, investments in digital literacy and STEM education, and the creation of a leadership incubator to groom transformational leaders.

“We see this place as a leadership incubator where transformational leaders are raised… individuals who will challenge the status quo, promote creative problem solving in our region and beyond,” she told the gathering.

Future plans also include developing a permanent campus equipped with modern libraries, science laboratories, and other facilities, as well as building a robust alumni network and offering scholarships to expand access to more families.

Reverend Mrs. Anaba reaffirmed the school’s commitment to its Christian foundations and its mission to raise learners who are “academically strong, spiritually rooted, and socially responsible.”

The 25th anniversary celebration also honored the school’s graduates and paid tribute to the contributions of teachers, past and present, as the school embarks on a new chapter as Four Rivers International School.
