The Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central, Isaac Adongo, has applauded A1 Radio, a subsidiary of Agreed Best Communication Company Limited operating in the Bolgatanga Municipality of the Upper East Region, for establishing its sister station, Bolga FM.
Bolga FM, which began operations in 2025 within the same premises as A1 Radio, has a clear vision: to promote indigenous businesses, local music and festivals, as well as local arts and culture, as a means of driving sustainable development and human growth.
Appearing for the first time on the station’s political flagship programme, Zina Yela, Mr. Adongo commended the management of A1 Radio and Bolga FM for their decision to focus on promoting local identity and heritage.
According to the Bolgatanga Central legislator, it is essential to use the airwaves to preserve and project local languages, culture, and businesses. He emphasized that the initiative by A1 Radio and Bolga FM deserves recognition.
“I am happy that you set up this station to promote our forefathers’ language, because it seems the language of our forefathers is fading away. With this initiative, our local issues will be better highlighted. Not only our languages, but also our culture. As we speak, many of our children don’t know certain aspects of our traditions, but through your station, they will get to know and learn about them,” he stated.
Mr. Adongo also shared how he often visits students at various universities and interacts with them in his mother tongue. Many of these students, he noted, are often surprised at how fluently he speaks it. He stressed the importance of encouraging the youth to hold onto their mother language and never abandon it.
