Development advocate, Solomon TTB Zenakena, has reiterated his dedication to improving living conditions in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region. He outlined his focus on key areas including security, infrastructure, education, employment, and access to water — all aimed at enhancing the well-being of residents.
“My focus is basically on general developmental matters; be it security, infrastructure, employment, water challenges, or education — anything that will ensure the benefit of the good people of Talensi, I am deeply concerned about,” he said.
Speaking on A1 Radio, Mr. Zenakena noted that despite efforts by duty bearers and the police, Talensi continues to grapple with frequent robbery cases, which remain a major concern for the community. He stressed that beyond government interventions, community members also have a responsibility to support security efforts in order to restore safety in the area.
“As I speak to you, almost every day there is a robbery incident in Talensi. Yes, duty bearers are doing their best, the police institutions are doing their best, but we also need to support them,” he urged.
Beyond security concerns, Mr. Zenakena has been actively involved in social interventions such as assisting students with school fees, mobilizing resources to support families, rehabilitating schools, and initiating water supply projects. Many of these interventions, he explained, are carried out quietly behind the scenes with the aim of bringing practical solutions to the challenges of the people.
He emphasized that education and knowledge should not only serve as tools for personal advancement but should also reflect positively in the lives of others. For him, true development is achieved when individuals use their qualifications, influence, and networks to create meaningful change within their communities.
“The only thing we need to do is this: you touch your base, I touch my base. At the end of the day, when you light your candle and I light my candle, we will be able to illuminate the entire place. That is the only way we can support our community.”
“No matter your qualifications, no matter your knowledge, no matter your certificates — if they do not reflect or impact the lives of people, then it only means you are carrying a big head, punishing your neck, and there is nothing there,” he added.
Drawing inspiration from leaders like Dr. Kwame Nkrumah and former President John Dramani Mahama, Mr. Zenakena said he believes that even the smallest contributions, when done with commitment, can make a lasting impact.
“I may not be able to do great things, but at least the little I am able to do, I will do it in a great way,” he concluded.
