Former Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Rex Asanga, has reaffirmed his commitment to supporting former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in his presidential campaign.

Speaking on A1 Radio, Mr. Asanga noted that while he may not actively engage in heated political debates or crisscross constituencies, his dedication to seeing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) return to power in 2028 remains unwavering.

“Once a politician, always a politician,” he stated. “I may have retired from civil service, but I remain very active in supporting my party. I will work hard with my supporters to ensure Dr. Bawumia wins the presidential race and the NPP comes back to power in 2028.”

Mr. Asanga emphasized that his motivation stems not from personal ambition but from a deep concern for the younger generation. He explained that many young people who have sacrificed for the NPP are still unemployed, and the party must prioritize creating opportunities for them when it regains power.

“For some of us, whether we get jobs or not, life will move on,” he added. “Our focus should be on empowering the youth with jobs and opportunities to secure their future.”

The former MCE concluded by assuring party members of his readiness to provide his expertise and strength to ensure Dr. Bawumia’s victory, stressing that his greatest satisfaction will come from seeing the NPP back in power under Bawumia’s leadership.
