The GhanaThink Foundation will host the ninth edition of Barcamp Bolga on Saturday, bringing together young people, professionals and innovators for a day of mentorship, networking and skills-sharing in the Upper East Region.
The event, themed “Impact | Innovation | Quality,” will take place at the GNAT Hall in Bolgatanga. Organizers expect about 250 participants.
Barcamps, volunteer-driven gatherings organized nationwide by GhanaThink, are known for connecting youth with mentors, employers and entrepreneurs. Saturday’s program will include breakout sessions on youth empowerment, clean air solutions, tourism, and hospitality, alongside the popular “speed mentoring” sessions that link participants with resourceful professionals.
“Over the last five years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting Barcamps in Wa and Bolgatanga,” said local lead organizer Mark Kwasi Ahumah Smith. “The biggest lesson I’ve learned is the importance of selling an idea, inspiring others to buy into it, and securing their commitment to pursue it as passionately as you do.”
The event will also feature “Konnect Kouch” personality interviews, born out of GhanaThink’s Konnect WhatsApp groups, giving participants the chance to hear directly from accomplished professionals.
Raymond Ayinne, who leads the resources team, said the mentoring component remains central. “Mentorship is relational, not transactional,” he said. “The best matches came from shared values, not just shared industries.”
Past participants say Barcamp has left lasting impacts. Sabina Pwasam, now the logistics lead, first attended in 2014. “Barcamps have made me a better version of myself,” she said, citing gains in confidence and public speaking.
Timothy Nsoh, Marketing Lead spoke about how the Barcamp events across Ghana have contributed to community development. “As someone who has participated in previous Barcamps, I can attest to the power of these events in fostering innovation, collaboration, and community development.”
Barcamp Bolga 2025 is supported by partners including Clean Air Fund, North Sight Images, GrowAfrica For Me, Dansyn Innovation Social Organisation, Dreamz FM, A1 Radio, TAP Hotel and Bel Beverages.
