The new chief of Duusi, Naam Nyulyeng II, has urged the community to prioritize investment in education, describing it as the foundation of development and a key tool for unlocking opportunities in every field.
The chief made the appeal during visits to SS Peter and Paul Catholic Basic School, Duusi Tindongo Basic School, and Precious Tree Academy, where he provided snacks to pupils to welcome them back as the new academic year began.
The gesture, supported by Assembly Member for Duusi, Derrick Adongo, together with Dembey Clement and Robert Kolog Kabasam, was aimed at encouraging pupils and making them feel excited about returning to school.
Madam Monica Ayamga, a teacher who has served in Duusi for two decades, praised the initiative as unprecedented. “This is the first time in my 20 years of teaching here that I have witnessed such a gesture,” she said.
Looking ahead, Naam Nyulyeng II announced plans for a second phase of the initiative, which will include distributing exercise books, pens, pencils, and erasers to pupils, as well as donating sanitary pads to girls to promote menstrual hygiene and keep them in school.
The chief reaffirmed his commitment to championing education as a driver of community transformation, stressing the need for residents and other stakeholders to play their roles in improving educational outcomes in Duusi.
