In a move to economically empower women in his constituency, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Chiana-Paga, Nikyema Billa Alamzy, has provided financial support of GH¢2,000 each to 220 women.
According to the MP, the initiative aims to support women in their economic ventures and improve their livelihoods. He noted that the gesture is intended to make a positive impact on their lives by enabling them to invest in their businesses, pay school fees, or meet other essential financial needs.
“We know it is not enough, but we are doing our best to cushion them a little because most of them are petty traders and farmers. The wisdom behind this initiative is that our women are suffering and need our support,” Mr. Alamzy emphasized.
He further stated, “The idea is to assist our people and empower them economically. This will not be the last support from my office. I will continue to look for more resources to extend a helping hand to our women.”
“We are determined to help our people. We are determined to move our district forward and to develop our constituency,” he added.
Mr. Stephen Aeke Akurugo, the District Chief Executive for the Kassena-Nankana West District, advised the women to use the money judiciously by investing in their businesses for sustainable growth.
The MP disclosed that the funds came from his share of the MP’s Common Fund, which he has vowed to use solely to support his constituents and other developmental projects in the area.
Some of the beneficiaries, who each received GH¢2,000, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the MP for his generosity, describing the gesture as a timely intervention that would significantly improve their economic circumstances.
Others noted that the financial support would help them expand their businesses, pay off debts, and meet their financial obligations. They commended the MP and the NDC government for their continued commitment to improving the lives of women in the constituency.
