The Member of Parliament for Chiana-Paga Constituency, Nikyema Billa Alamzy, has granted full scholarships to four students from the Kassena-Nankana West District to pursue various professional programmes at different universities across the country.

According to the MP, one of the beneficiaries is studying medicine to become a medical doctor, another is studying engineering, while two others are pursuing law (LLB).

Speaking in an exclusive interview with A1 Radio, Mr. Alamzy said the scholarship initiative forms part of his broader vision to build the human resource capacity of the district and support the youth in accessing higher education.

“We have given four scholarships so far — one is studying medicine, one is studying engineering, and two are studying law. There is another person studying economics that we are still working on due to some selection criteria challenges,” he revealed.

The MP explained that the scholarship beneficiaries were carefully selected based on merit and commitment to return and contribute to the development of the Kassena-Nankana West District after completing their studies.

“This initiative is to help boost the human resource base of our district. We believe that when these young people graduate, they will return to serve their communities in various capacities and help reduce youth unemployment,” he said.

Aside from the full scholarships, Mr. Alamzy also announced the release of ₵169,000 as partial support for 169 undergraduate students from the district who are preparing to resume school in the coming weeks.

“We also decided to give partial support to 169 undergraduate students. We gave them ₵169,000 to assist them because schools will be opening soon,” he explained.

He added that education remains one of his top priorities as MP and assured his constituents that he will continue to support brilliant but needy students to achieve their academic dreams.

“We are trying our best, and we just pray that our people will continue to support us so we can carry out this mandate effectively and help more students,” Mr. Alamzy stated.
