A1 Radio’s Joshua Asaah has been named Investigative Journalist of the Year at the 4th Upper East Regional Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards, a recognition that underscores his commitment to truth, accountability, and impactful storytelling.

Asaah, known for his hard-hitting investigative reports, earned widespread attention for his recent story titled “The Silent Carnage: Road Crashes Claim Lives and Livelihoods in Upper East Region,” which exposed the devastating human and economic toll of frequent road accidents in the area.

The report sparked conversations about road safety and the need for stronger enforcement of traffic regulations in the region.

Reacting to the award, Asaah described the recognition as both humbling and inspiring. “I am deeply honored to be named the Investigative Journalist of the Year at the 4th Upper East Regional GJA Awards,” he said. “This recognition is not just a personal achievement but a testament to the power of truth, accountability, and dedication in journalism.”

He expressed gratitude for the support that has fueled his work. “I give thanks to God for His grace and protection throughout this journey,” Asaah said. “My sincere appreciation to my colleagues and family members for their unwavering support.”

For Asaah, the honor serves as motivation to continue pursuing stories that hold power to account and drive positive change. “This award strengthens my resolve to continue serving society through fearless and fact-based reporting,” he added.

His win adds to A1 Radio’s dominant performance at this year’s regional GJA Awards, where the Bolgatanga-based station once again affirmed its leadership in journalistic excellence. Asaah’s work exemplifies the station’s ethos — journalism that informs, empowers, and transforms communities across northern Ghana.
