A businessman based in Obuasi and a proud native of Bolgatanga, Mashud Ajene Abongo, has donated two packs of roofing sheets and ₵1,000 to the Alangumgube Group in support of the ongoing construction of the Upper East Regional Passport Office.

The new office, spearheaded by the Alangumgube Group, aims to improve access to passport services for residents in the region. Mr. Abongo’s donation is specifically to assist in the construction of a parking lot for staff of the Ghana Commercial Bank, who previously occupied the premises now being renovated for the Passport Office.

Speaking on behalf of the donor, Atiah Apusiyine, a youth leader and younger brother of Mr. Abongo, said the businessman was deeply inspired by the group’s commitment to community development.

“My brother heard about the impressive work Alangumgube is doing and decided to lend a helping hand with his widow’s mite,” Mr. Apusiyine explained. “He believes that when citizens support one another in such initiatives, it accelerates local development and strengthens the spirit of unity among us.”

He further encouraged other individuals and organizations to emulate the gesture, emphasizing that collective effort is key to transforming Bolgatanga and the Upper East Region.

“We appeal to corporate institutions, philanthropists, and well-meaning natives of the Upper East Region to come on board and support Alangumgube’s vision,” he added. “Every contribution counts.”

The Chairman of the Alangumgube Group, Gabriel Agambila, expressed deep appreciation to Mr. Abongo for his generosity and timely intervention.

“This support comes at a crucial time and will go a long way to boost our progress,” Mr. Agambila said. “We are extremely grateful to Mr. Mashud Abongo for standing with us. It’s gestures like this that inspire us to keep pushing for the development of our region.”

Mr. Agambila also appealed to other natives and institutions to contribute toward the completion of the project ahead of its official commissioning on October 23, 2025, assuring that the group remains committed to ensuring a successful inauguration ceremony.
