The Chairman of the Alangumgube Group, Gabriel Agambila, has appealed for additional financial and material support to help complete the construction of a parking shed at the new Upper East Regional Passport Office in Bolgatanga.

Speaking on Bolga FM’s Tingmaalgo Sanga program on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Mr. Agambila said the group’s goal is to bring passport acquisition services closer to residents in the Upper East Region, thereby reducing the burden of traveling long distances to Tamale, Wa, or Accra.

“This project is about service and convenience for our people,” Mr. Agambila stated. “For years, residents have had to spend time and money traveling outside the region to acquire passports. We are changing that reality.”

He expressed appreciation to several institutions and individuals, including the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, the Bongo District Assembly, and businessman Mashud Ajene Abongo, who recently donated two packs of roofing sheets and a cash amount to support the construction of the parking shed.

Among the region’s elected representatives, Mr. Agambila acknowledged support from the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Isaac Adongo, for his contribution to the project.

“Isaac Adongo has shown real commitment to the development of this region, and we are grateful for his support,” he said. “It’s encouraging when our leaders complement community-driven efforts with their own contributions.”

Despite the progress made, Mr. Agambila said more work remains and appealed to philanthropists, corporate organizations, and other well-meaning individuals to donate roofing sheets, iron rods, cement, and wood to help complete the parking area before the office’s commissioning.

However, he expressed disappointment over what he described as the lack of enthusiasm from some government officials toward supporting the initiative.

“It’s worrying that some officials who have the power and mandate to help develop this region have shown little interest,” he lamented. “We are ordinary citizens doing our part, but development should not be left to volunteers alone.”

The Upper East Regional Passport Office is expected to be officially commissioned on October 23, 2025.
