A high-level meeting has been held in Accra to restore peace and strengthen cooperation between the Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo Central and the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), following recent tensions that threatened to undermine development efforts in the constituency.
According to Prosper Adongo, Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Navrongo Central, the meeting brought together key stakeholders to address misunderstandings between the two leaders and chart a new path of unity.
“The discussion was frank and productive,” Mr. Adongo said. “Both the MP and MCE reaffirmed their commitment to work together in the interest of the people. They pledged to put aside personal and political differences and to focus on improving infrastructure, education, health, and social welfare in the municipality.”
He emphasized that unity between the MP and MCE is crucial to achieving President Mahama’s reset agenda for the constituency, adding that harmony between the two leaders ensures that “development initiatives are well-coordinated, resources are efficiently utilized, and the community benefits as a whole.”
The meeting concluded with a resolution to organize a joint stakeholder session involving the Upper East Regional Minister, Regional Chairman, party elders, the MP, MCE, and constituency executives to consolidate peace and strengthen collaboration.
Mr. Adongo commended all stakeholders for their patience and cooperation throughout the mediation process. “Your timely intervention, constructive dialogue, and spirit of collaboration made it possible to reach an amicable and lasting solution,” he said.
He also appealed to supporters of both leaders to “put a big full stop to the matter” and allow peace to prevail for the sake of progress in Navrongo Central.
