The Member of Parliament (MP) for Nabdam, Dr. Mark-Kurt Nawaane, has supported and trained 55 women in various hands-on skills aimed at promoting self-reliance and economic empowerment in the Nabdam District of the Upper East Region.

The women received training in soap and detergent production, pastry making, groundnut oil extraction, and other small-scale economic ventures.

According to Dr. Nawaane, the initiative forms part of his broader commitment to empowering women to become financially independent and to contribute meaningfully to the economic growth of their families and communities.

Speaking at the closing ceremony of the training programme, Dr. Nawaane commended the participants for their dedication and urged them to make the best use of the knowledge acquired. He emphasized that empowering women through skills development is one of the most effective ways to tackle poverty and unemployment at the grassroots level.

To further support the beneficiaries, Dr. Nawaane pledged an additional GH¢20,000 as seed capital to help the women expand their businesses and sustain their livelihoods.

“This support is to ensure that what you have learned does not end here. I want you to start something small and grow it into something that will make a difference in your families and the community,” he stated.

The excited beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude to the MP for his continuous support toward women’s development in the constituency.

They noted that the training had equipped them with practical skills that would enable them to earn a living and support their households.

The initiative adds to several other empowerment and social intervention programmes spearheaded by Dr. Nawaane to improve living standards and promote inclusive development in the Nabdam District.
