The Planning Committee of the Dunseema Festival has announced that this year’s celebration will take place on December 31, 2025, at the Kandiga Dunseema Arena (Timpiam) in Ghana’s Upper East Region.
The 2025 edition, held under the theme “Youth, Culture, and Community: The Spirit of Dunseema,” is expected to deliver a 24-hour cultural showcase featuring traditional performances, music, storytelling, wrestling, arts exhibitions, and nature-based tourism experiences such as sightseeing and tent camping.
Organizers say the event, coordinated in collaboration with Spotless Event Planners and traditional leaders — aims to strengthen cultural identity while fostering unity among young people in the Kandiga area.
The evening program will blend contemporary entertainment with traditional heritage elements, a fusion organizers describe as a “BlackStarExperience.” Festival planners say the goal is to create an immersive cultural journey that connects participants to history, spirituality and community.
The Dunseema Festival was recently featured in the Ghana Tourism Authority’s festival catalogue, a recognition officials say signals the event’s growing national profile and tourism potential. The listing places Dunseema among a select group of cultural celebrations highlighted for their contribution to Ghana’s heritage preservation and domestic tourism growth.
Festival organizers say they expect strong participation from domestic travelers and diasporan visitors, particularly as northern festivals continue to gain prominence in cultural programming and tourism promotion across the country.
Promoters say the 2025 edition will also include craft markets, food exhibitions and cultural education sessions, offering attendees a deeper look into Kandiga’s history and traditions.
The Planning Committee encouraged the public to attend, noting that the festival provides “a true celebration of heritage under the stars.”
