Youth from the Builsa area are calling on President John Dramani Mahama and his government to ensure the inclusion of the abandoned Chuchuliga–Sandema–Fumbisi–Wiesi Road Project in the 2026 National Budget, describing the road as a critical development priority for the socio-economic growth of the Builsa area.

In a statement signed by the acting leadership of the Builsa Youth for Development (BYD), the group expressed concern that the contractor had abandoned the project for several months, leaving the road in poor condition.

While acknowledging ongoing national development efforts, BYD reminded President Mahama of his campaign pledge to complete the road project — a commitment they say carries significant economic and social value for the people of Buluk.

“This project was not only a campaign promise but a lifeline for the economic and social transformation of our area. Unfortunately, the contractor has abandoned the site, leaving the project in an unacceptable state of stagnation,” the statement read.

The youth lamented that the deteriorated road network continues to affect transportation, limit trade and disrupt access to essential services, including healthcare and education. These challenges, they said, have worsened frustrations among residents who have “waited patiently for far too long.”

As preparations for the 2026 National Budget progress, BYD called on the Minister of Finance to prioritize the road and allocate adequate funding for its immediate continuation and completion. The group stressed that the people of Builsa deserve equitable development comparable to other parts of Ghana.

“Development is not a privilege; it is our constitutional right. The people of Buluk are watching closely, and we expect actions that match the promises made to us.”

The statement concluded with BYD reaffirming its commitment to advocating for transparency, accountability and balanced national development, urging the government to demonstrate its commitment through concrete action.
