Musician Daniel Amoabire has called on the government and other stakeholders to provide greater support and opportunities for persons with disabilities who have the talent and interest to pursue careers in the music industry.
Mr. Amoabire, who is based in Vea in the Bongo District of the Upper East Region, said persons with disabilities should be given access to the training, resources and opportunities needed to develop their musical talents and pursue their aspirations.
He made the appeal during an interview on Bolga FM’s Tooma La Dengo Sanga.
According to him, disability should not prevent talented individuals from developing their abilities and contributing meaningfully to society through music.
Mr. Amoabire said with the right support, persons with disabilities who have musical talent can overcome barriers, build successful careers and use their platforms to positively influence society.
He also urged musicians to recognise the influence their work has on listeners and be mindful of the messages contained in their songs.
According to him, music goes beyond entertainment and can inspire people, influence behaviour and provide hope and encouragement to those experiencing difficult situations, including people who are sick.
He said the words contained in songs can influence people’s decisions, behaviour and relationships, making it important for musicians to use their platforms responsibly and promote positive values.
Mr. Amoabire also advised young people to stay away from drug abuse and other activities that could negatively affect their future.
He encouraged the youth to take their education seriously, describing it as a life-changing ladder that can provide better opportunities and help them build a brighter future.
The musician said young people can combine education with their talents and skills to develop successful careers and contribute to the development of their communities.
Mr. Amoabire called on the government, traditional authorities, organisations and individuals to identify, encourage and support talented persons with disabilities who aspire to pursue careers in the music industry.
