A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team in the Upper East Region, Isaac Ayemvoah, has expressed optimism that the 2026 national budget and economic policy will sustain Ghana’s economic stability while addressing key developmental priorities.
Speaking on A1 Radio ahead of the budget presentation, he noted that Ghana’s economy has shown signs of recovery, and the next phase should focus on consolidating these gains through targeted investments in critical sectors such as transportation, energy, and job creation. He emphasized that the upcoming budget is expected to build on the theme of accelerating growth by expanding infrastructure and strengthening productive sectors to create employment opportunities.
“If you look at this year’s budget, it is all about accelerating our economy. So when we say ‘accelerate the economy,’ we mean improving the economy, transportation, and job creation,” he explained.
Mr. Ayemvoah indicated that the government has made significant progress in the energy sector, including the introduction of a new oil plant aimed at boosting gas production and reducing dependence on external sources. He said this development, which is reflected in the new budget, is expected to enhance power generation and ensure reliable energy supply to support industries and households.
“We have been able to bring another oil plant into the system. We are doing so because we want to be self-sufficient when it comes to gas production so that we will be able to power our plants,” he said.
He further highlighted several key road projects expected to feature in the 2026 budget, including the Chiana–Tumu–Wa stretch, the Navrongo–Sandema–Fumbisi road, and several others within the Bolgatanga municipality such as SSNIT Junction–Kalbeo, Royal Hotel–A1, OLA–A1, and the Sumbrungu routes. These roads, he noted, are crucial for improving regional connectivity and supporting economic activities.
According to him, leadership in the Upper East Region has already submitted its development priorities to the government, and there is strong confidence that many of these concerns will be addressed in the new budget.
