The Chief of the Kadema Traditional Area, Nab Amuribadek Amaateng Adaangabey, on 25th November 2025, cut sod for the construction of a police station in Kadema aimed at enhancing security and promoting peace in the community.
Nab Adaangabey explained that the decision to build the station was prompted by a rising crime rate in the area. He noted that the presence of gold deposits had attracted several small-scale miners to the community, increasing security risks.
“Definitely, when people come together, crime cannot be absent,” he said.
To address these challenges, the traditional council initiated the construction of the police station to ensure the close presence and services of police personnel in Kadema.
The chief revealed that the self-initiated project is being funded from proceeds generated through mining activities in the area. Each miner was allocated a space and charged a fee, with strict accountability and transparency maintained throughout the process.
“I insisted that the monies charged will strictly be used for the project,” Nab Adaangabey said.
He believes the police station will significantly improve security and foster development in Kadema and its environs. He called for continued collaboration between the community and security agencies to ensure sustainable peace.
Nab Adaangabey assured the security agencies of the community’s full cooperation when officers are eventually posted to the area.
“Be rest assured that we will cooperate and work with the men who will be posted here, so that there will be peace within Kadema and its environs,” he said.
While construction has yet to commence, the chief appealed to the Police Commander to post at least three officers to Kadema to maintain law and order during the construction period. He further pledged that the community would provide accommodation for the officers at its own cost.
He expressed gratitude to all stakeholders, particularly the leadership of the Police Service, for their support since the project was conceived.
The sod-cutting ceremony was attended by key stakeholders and dignitaries, including the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Builsa North, Solomon Akogti, the Presiding Member, the Assembly Member for Chansa, representatives of the Sandem-Nab, the Divisional Police Commander from Navrongo, the Municipal Police Commander, and officials from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).
