The Kassena Nankana West District Hospital has received a significant boost to its medical resources after the Paga Youth Movement (PAYOM) donated a range of essential medical supplies to support healthcare delivery in the district.
The presentation, held Tuesday, December 2, is the latest effort by PAYOM to strengthen community development and improve health outcomes in the area.
The donated items — mobilized by PAYOM member Rebecca Kunipaga Kubakwaale — included wheelchairs, walking aids, urine drainage bags, catheters, dressing pads, transfer belts, Aro chambers, disposable aprons, needles, face masks and other critical supplies. Hospital officials say the equipment will improve patient care and ease pressure on the facility’s already limited resources.
Speaking at the event, PAYOM Vice Chairman Fredrick Wugaah Awovere said the gesture was motivated by the hospital’s pressing needs and the movement’s commitment to community-driven development.
“We came here with Rebecca, who has closely monitored the hospital’s challenges. These items were mobilized specifically to complement your efforts in delivering quality healthcare,” he said, adding that the movement hopes the support will help strengthen healthcare delivery in the district.
Nurse-in-Charge Monica Koole, who received the items on behalf of the hospital, expressed gratitude for what she described as a timely intervention.
“On behalf of management and the entire hospital, we are deeply grateful for this donation. We assure you the items will be put to good use to benefit our patients. We look forward to continued collaboration and support,” she said.
PAYOM’s support extended beyond the hospital donation. In a related contribution, Rebecca Kunipaga presented a fully stocked first aid box to the movement for use during public programs and emergencies.
Additionally, community supporter Godfred Atiga Awampaga donated two football trophies to PAYOM ahead of its upcoming inter-community football games, which aim to promote unity, youth engagement and social cohesion.
The latest contributions reinforce PAYOM’s growing role as a driver of development and community empowerment in the Paga area.
