Dr. Ziba Daniel, a long-serving member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has officially expressed his readiness to contest the Upper East Regional Treasurer position, citing experience, dedication, and a renewed vision to reposition the party after recent electoral setbacks.
Speaking on A1 Radio, Dr. Ziba recounted nearly three decades of unwavering commitment to the NPP, beginning in 1996 when he first voted for the party. His political journey, he explained, has been grounded in service rather than ambition.
“I have served the party in and out of this region for almost 24 years,” he said, adding that his decision to contest is driven by the need for hardworking, resourceful, and strategic leadership at this critical moment in the party’s history.
Dr. Ziba currently serves as Constituency Secretary and IT Coordinator in the Talensi Constituency. He revealed that when the party introduced the IT Directorate, he was the first to be appointed in Talensi—a role that later paved the way for his election as Constituency Secretary, a position he held for four years.
His performance at the constituency level, he noted, earned him a regional appointment following the loss of a key party figure.
Beyond titles, Dr. Ziba emphasized his deep involvement in party mobilization across the Upper East Region.
“There is hardly any constituency in this region that I have not visited to campaign and work for the party,” he stated. According to him, leadership in the NPP must be active and visible, not ceremonial. “You cannot take an executive position and go back to sit down,” he stressed.
Touching on his role as Regional Elections and Research Officer, Dr. Ziba highlighted the importance of research in political organization. He explained that his office gathered critical data on public perception, candidate suitability, and policy impact—information meant to guide party strategy.
He cited instances where research findings warned against unpopular policies, including certain taxes affecting the youth, though he admitted that research recommendations are not always acted upon.
Dr. Ziba also acknowledged the financial constraints that often limit effective research and party operations, noting that gathering data across constituencies such as Bawku and Sandema requires significant resources.
With a blend of experience in administration, research, and grassroots mobilization, Dr. Ziba Daniel believes he brings discipline, transparency, and innovation to the treasurer role.
“The party may be down, but we are not out,” he said, expressing confidence that with the right leadership and strategic financial management, the NPP can regain its strength in the region.
