The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bongo, Joseph Akasake Abaah, has called for a radical and accelerated approach to tackling long-standing development challenges in the district, stressing that critical sectors such as health, potable water, and education can no longer face delays.

Speaking on A1 Radio, Mr. Abaah said the district has lagged behind for too long and requires decisive action to bridge the development gap.

“We mean business. We don’t want to sleep. Bongo is far behind, so we have to fast-track development,” he declared, emphasizing his administration’s determination to respond swiftly to residents’ needs.

He revealed that his development agenda is informed by firsthand knowledge of the district’s challenges, gathered during his tenure as Constituency Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to Mr. Abaah, while campaigning across communities, he deliberately documented the pressing concerns of residents.

“I had a book. In any community we visited, I wrote down their needs and what mattered most to them. So when I assumed office, we already knew what was happening in each community,” he explained.

This preparatory work, he noted, eliminated unnecessary delays and enabled his administration to move quickly once funds were released.

With government resources released to the assemblies, he said there was no justification for leaving funds idle. “We immediately initiated the procurement process and handed projects over to contractors,” he added.

The DCE disclosed that several projects across the district have progressed significantly, with many currently at the roofing stage. He expressed optimism that by January next year, these projects would be completed and handed over to beneficiary institutions.
