Pusu-Namogo to receive CHPS compound

Since the creation of the Talensi District from the Bolgatanga Municipality, residents of Pusu-Namogo have endured years of hardship in accessing basic healthcare services. Despite repeated appeals to successive District Chief Executives, the community’s quest for a health facility remained unanswered, forcing residents to travel long distances for medical attention.

With a population running into the thousands, the absence of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound has meant that residents often trek to neighbouring communities such as Winkogo, Goroku, or Balungu to seek healthcare. For pregnant women, the elderly, and children, this situation has posed serious risks, especially during emergencies.

However, hope is finally in sight. The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Talensi, John Millim Nabwomya, has announced plans to construct a CHPS compound for Pusu-Namogo, bringing relief to the long-neglected community.

Speaking on A1 Radio, Mr. Nabwomya acknowledged the challenges faced by residents and emphasized that the decision was guided by population size and advice from the District Health Directorate.

“They don’t have a CHPS compound around their area, and there’s quite a large population residing there,” he stated. “They are just in the middle, moving either to Winkogo, Goroku, or Balungu to access healthcare.”

The DCE assured residents that the project would be funded through the District Common Fund and would commence as soon as funds are released. According to him, procurement processes will begin immediately to ensure the project’s timely execution.

The planned CHPS compound, expected to be completed by 2026, is anticipated to significantly improve healthcare delivery in Pusu-Namogo and surrounding communities.
